A DHT11 simulator that answers on the wire
The DHT11 is not a bus slave. It drives the data line itself, and the firmware times the pulses. LabWired models it that way, on the GPIO pad.
There is no curated DHT11 lab yet, so this page has no live embed. Add a DHT11 from the parts bin in the Playground.
What is simulated
- The start pulse must hold the line LOW for at least 1 ms. A shorter pulse is ignored, as on a real sensor, so the read times out.
- The response is 80 µs LOW, then 80 µs HIGH, then 40 bits. Each bit is 50 µs LOW and then 27 µs (0) or 70 µs (1) HIGH.
- DHT11 packing: integer humidity and temperature, zero decimal bytes, and an 8-bit checksum. A DHTTYPE DHT11 library decodes it.
- Temperature and humidity are inputs you set while the firmware runs. Temperature is clamped to 0–50 °C.
What is left out
We list the gaps so you know when to reach for a bench.
- The model answers every valid start pulse. It does not enforce the minimum time between reads.
- The decimal bytes are always zero.
